iWonder

Given all the media hype about the release of the iPhone, I cant help but wonder what Sarcasmo would be thinking about it. Self proclaimed geek girl that she was, I m sure she would have been interested. But enough to stand in line to get one? iDoubt it. First of all, she loved her Sidekick. Not to mention ,she, like most of us was a working girl . Taking a day off and then plunking down $600 bucks ( she would go 8 GB) was not within the realm of practicality. Plus she was cautious about buying new technology until is was proven in the field. And if for no other reason , I think she would have passed because it is the perceived "cool" thing to do right now. And Sarcasmo is a leader, not a follower.

So what would she stand in line for? Well most likely the Transformers Movie due to be released July 2. I don't know if there would be a late night preview showing, or if she would have gotten a press pass to an early screening. But for sure she would stand *in line to see it. As a younger Sarcasmo she was quite captivated by the Transformer cartoon series. I know we had one or two of the form changing toys in the house. Whether it was the Optimus Prime figure or not I can't recall. Perhaps one of her sisters , or childhood cohorts can refresh that memory.

She would line up to see the Simpsons Movie (July 27) for sure. She once told me that there is a Simpson's quote for anything that happens in life. I will have to take her word for that.

Would she stand in line outside a bookstore to get the final Harry Potter book when (if) it is released at 12:01 am on July 21? Uhhh-yeah !

That's how I see it. What do you think? And what are you up for standing in line for?

* as a side note, I just want to be clear that she would stand in line, not on line. In Philadelphia we always stood in line, until, very recently when people began saying on line when referring to queuing up. Such as they say in New York. I don't know why, and it is one of those things that makes me cringe when I hear it. Unless there is a visual line drawn on the ground and you are stepping on it, then you are standing in a line, and not on one. Unless of course you are standing while web-surfing.

Website-ings

I have to confess, that I have been holding out on you. Not on purpose mind you, but not sharing all the same. One of the reasons for keeping Sarcasmo's Corner active, is to keep the genius that is Sarcasmo out there on the Internet. As long as it is popping up on aggregators, I have a hope that it won't become an unused link on a blogroll somewhere. That maybe people who haven't been here will visit, like what they see, and visit again.

It gives us great pleasure when we see a mention of Sarcasmo on the Internet. As Sarcas-sis said when she forwarded this one to me, it means "she is still out there". Indeed she is. Just this past week she has been here, and here. And Peccable let me know about this one. It is the whole transcript of the XYZZY awards. It takes a while but if you scroll down you will see where the moderators paid tribute to her. Or if you want, email me and I will send you the excerpted section. An in the same vein, I ran across this myself. Pretty darn cool, right? See at the end? Highest scoring XYZZY game ever!

As I said, I didn't mean to keep these all to myself, it just didn't occur to me tho share. So now that I have, how about you guys? Have you seen her anywhere? Tell us about it. This is a group effort you know. Have I mentioned that before? I think so. Any sharing would be welcome. A Sarcasmo related story. A post about any subject you would like to share with the readers of Sarcasmo's Corner. Either send me the post (slf1954@verizon.net) , or post it on your own site and send me the link. We would also love to hear from anyone who has used a gift certificate or tickets won at the auction in April. Let us know if you enjoyed the experience.

There is one more mention I want to share with you. This was written by a friend of Sarcasmo, whom she met in college. He writes a column for the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghampton New York.

I promise to share if you do.

Monday Morning Madness

Hello Friends of Sarcasmo's Corner. This Monday Madness post has a lot to do with friends.

On June 15, the first annual Star C. Foster Writers Prize was awarded to a member of the 2007 graduating class at Central High School in Philadelphia. This was the 266th graduating class. Sarcasmo was in the 250th. Sarcas-dad, Evermike, and I attended the ceremony. We congratulate the recipient, and hope she will accept our invitation to visit, and to post on Sarcasmo's Corner or in the forums. We would very much like to get to know her.

The Writer's Prize exists today because of friends. As does the plaque in Rittenhouse Square. Sarcasmo has a lot of friends. Here are some links from some of those friends.

Say It Ain't So - I think there is some plank walkin' to be done. Arrghhh! (thanks dbsmall )

Cylons? Doh!!!- Two of Sarcasmo's favorites joined together. Sort of like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. (thanks PTBvisiongrrl )(Also Central High School class of 250 )

Time Warp- Sarcasmo was always up for a good midnight virgin auction.( thanks Vis Major)

Dedication - Shellefly has dedicated a published work to Sarcasmo. It's about pirates. Of course !

If anyone who attended the silent auction in April has taken advantage of the tickets, gift certificates or other items they successfully bid on, Sarcasmo's Corner would like to hear about the experience. Leave a comment, or email me a post (slf1954@verizon.net) if you would like to share.

All Hail Sarcasmo

Today is her birthday.

Family and friends will gather early in Rittenhouse Square, both to celebrate her life, and to dedicate the plaque that marks a section of the park forever dedicated to her. Come by and see it if you can. and maybe bring a book, and sit and read a while. Sarcasmo would like that . Oh, and kiss the frog. If you think you look silly doing it, well all the better.

If you can't make the park, then hang out here a while and read through the archives. In keeping with the day I suggest this one. But please, wander where you will.

On June 15th, the very first annual Star C. Foster Writer's Prize will be awarded at the graduation ceremony for Central High School, Star's alma mater. This was made possible by Sarcasmo's many friends. Some of whom she never even met in person. She may not have achieved world domination, but she definitely left her mark on it.

Even though it is her birthday, Sarcasmo would be giving you the gift of linkage. So while it isn't a Monday or a Friday, in honor of Sarcasmo, here are thinks she would have liked to get as birthday gifts:

Gumball Machine: She used to have one. But not on the wall! (via popgadget)

Pac Man Belt: Yes she would have worn it!(via Shiny Shiny)

Fit Flops : She was not a fan of organized exercise, but boy that girl could walk! (via popgadget)
