But First

I know, I know. It's been a while since we last met. My fault. Well, not MY fault, exactly. I blame my muse for being MIA. It's not that *she's missing. Oh no. She's around. When I'm at the gym, at work, in the shower, she is tossing out the witty words left and right. But the minute I open the laptop, nothing. I don't know what I did to her, but I hope she gets over it soon. Until, then, I'm flying solo.

This was originally supposed to be a post about firsts. But it took me so long to write it that a first gave way to a second, and , well, that was that. So, due in part to my procrastination, this post is about a first and a second, and then another first. Got it so far?

Friend of Sarcasmo's Corner, TrackerNeil, did his first ever live stand up comedy routine at a local open mic night. Thanks to Peccable, those of us who had every intention of being present, front and center, clapping and laughing at all the funny bits, but instead fell asleep on the sofa because open mic night starts AFTER their bedtime, can relive the experience here. Another first. TrackerNeil's first ever Youtube video appearance. Since then TrackerNeil has appeared at another open mic night at Club Helium. Thus the second after the first, because, as I said, I took my sweet time getting this post together.

TrackerNeil says he has embraced stand-up comedy because he wants to do things that scare him. I would be terrified at the thought of getting up in front of people who are paying to laugh. But faced with a choice between that, and the first that friend of Sarcasmo's Corner , Tom Boutell recently unveiled, well, lets just say , I'll take a rim shot and hecklers any day.

Tom joined the ranks of the "inked", with a tattoo to honor the dance. As you can see, Tom made quite the commitment. Sarcasmo , who embraced the dance ,would have approved. In fact, according to Tom, they danced that pattern together once. And they didn't even have his arm to go by. Did anyone else notice that there is no 4 step? What happens between three and five?

For all our sakes, let's hope my muse gets over her sulk soon. But you know, it's not all her fault. My mailbox has been a little light of late. No links. No posts. (hint, hint)

* yes, my muse is a she. At least that is how I picture her as we have never actually met face to face. A spritely little "she". Although given my track record for accuracy with regard to mental images, "she" may be a 300 lb "he" with a hairy back.

YAR !! **

I trust I need not tell any of you scallywags what day it be.

And t'honor it, I plan to wear a white flowy shirt and a pirate hat bandanna with Blackbeard's insignia on the front to work*. If you spot me, be sure to say "Yo Ho!" I'll be the one reading Treasure Island. (Updated: Well, damn and blast! It seems a pirate's worst enemy be not those meddling privateers, but rather the failure to do the laundry. This sort of thing is exactly why I need a cabin boy.)

* Mind you, I won't actually wear the pirate hat at work, because I'd like to keep me job, as I've not exactly discovered a chest full of dubloons with which to keep meself in book and

Uodated Update- Shiny Shiny has posted their TLAPD links in honr, (or honour as they say across the pond) of Sarcasmo.

Original Sarcasmo

Hi folks. It's been a while since I've steered you back to the wit and wonder that is Sarcasmo.

When I have a sleepless night, I make mental lists, wonder whatever happened to that shirt that I could have sworn was in my closet, and think (think) about just getting up and doing something productive, like, you know, blogging.

This is where Sarcasmo's mind went when she couldn't sleep. She reworked a classic.

Here is, for your reading pleasure, an original Sarcasmo. Originally posted 9/13/06.

Enjoy.

SuperStar

Guess who is getting in on the newest fitness craze ? Sarcasmo ! Yes, I mean our Sarcasmo. Now before you go pointing out that our Sarcasmo never jumped on the latest craze bandwagons, or that signing up was the most exercise she ever got at the gym , let me tell you ,this new venture involves dancing and hula hoops ! So now you can totally see it, right?

Friend of Sarcasmo's Corner, Jenn Rice,( aka Swingchickie on LJ) designs and sells adult sized hula hoops. Check out the website for Tailspin Hoops here. While hoops are just plain fun, they are also part of a new workout plan called Hoopdance, or Hooping. I had just seen a demonstration on Good Morning America, and was thinking it looked like fun, when I got an email from Jenn.

In honor of Sarcasmo, Jenn has designed a hula hoop called The SuperStar . Described by Jenn as:

"A little bit Goth, a little bit elegant... This lovely hoop combines black glitter and flat black stripes into a sparkling, understated stunner. This is the "little black dress" of hoops! "

it serves as a lovely tribute to Sarcasmo.

Jenn has also generously promised to donate $15 from the sale of each hoop to the scholarhip established in Sarcasmo's name at her alma mater.

Many, many thanks to Jenn for this wonderful gesture. Please check out her website, The SuperStar is listed nder the Funky Hoop category. Let us know what you think of the SuperStar, or if you think Hoopdancing is something you might get into.
