All Hail Sarcasmo

Happy Halloween to all. Truly, this was Sarcasmo's day to revel in all things spooky and bump in the night-y. She was so busy making with the scariness, that she never actually posted on October 31. Except for a one liner link several years back, and a short little paragraph about a local interest news story another time.

So, to mark this all Hallowed of Eves, instead of an original Sarcasmo, I give you Sarcasmo's Halloween photos.

Enjoy

And enjoy the day as well. It is, after all the only day you are encouraged to take candy from strangers.

Halllloooweeeeeeeeeeeeeen!!!!!!

For your reading pleasure, an original Sarcasmo. Enjoy.( This was originally posted October 26, 2005, so the links may no longer be active.)

Gremlins going to mess up every cassette from London to Idaho

So - despite the fact that today I am in my most uncomfortable (and hence, most professional) shoes, am wearing a suit, and even (heavens) some make-up like a Proper Grown-Up Person - my inner child has complete and total control of my inner monolouge, which sounds very much like this:

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!

And if one were to slow that down - as if taking a 45rpm record and play it at 33rpm1, you would know that she was screeching:

Halllloooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!Halllloooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!Halllloooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!Halllloooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!

It's as though she's already consumed an enormous sack of sugary candy.
Of course, I'm excited for Halloween every year2 - but this year Phillyist has been running a series called the 31 Days of Halloweeen - and in working on it I've become hyper aware of all the Halloween-related activity there is in my area; and simultaneously frustrated that I am physically incapable of doing all of it3. I have had one Halloween experience already (being a recent foray to Eastern State Penitentiary's haunted house) but my real Halloween celebration begins tomorrow night - when I will be helping to haunt a gorgeous old Portugese tall ship on the Delaware river4,5. (You may also spot me on said ship Saturday afternoon and Sunday night; the sea gods permitting.) Saturday night I'll be attending a friend's annual Halloween bash, which is always the highlight of my Halloween season (after hopefully squeezing in the Dracula Parade) - and eventually ending my costumed capering at Dracula's Ball6 Monday evening.
Then Nanowrimo begins Tuesday - so I suppose I had better get some sleep tonight; it may be last I have for a good, long time.

Ah, well, lack of sleep is exactly how I maintain my day-to-day ghoulish pallor anyway.
1 Yes, I'm painfully aware of what a reference that is.2 That Tim Curry song? Totally stuck in my head on infinite loop. I wonder if I can snag it from iTunes... 3 Things I am dissappointed to miss include curatorial talks on Dracula (although I've seen the notes on display before; the Rosenbach is my favorite local museum), mischief night festivities, and the Horror Road Show at the Keswick. 4 I don't want to give anything away, but I'm led to understand there will be some buckles well swashed up on deck...and all manner of creatures below.5 Also, I get to pirate for charity - how cool is that?6 My, but Philadelphia does seem to love Dracula.

Friday Follies Redux

In keeping with the Halloween Spirit and also with Fridays & Follies, I give you this original Sarcasmo. Clearly she was just not that in to it. (kidding, I'm kidding). Since it was first posted a year ago, the links may not all be active. Still, it is Sarcasmo in all her Halloween euphoria.

Enjoy !

First, let me say this: Halloween Halloween Halloween Halloween Halloween Halloween HalloweenHalloweenHalloweenHalloweenHalloweenHalloweenHalloweenHalloweenHalloweenHalloween !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I just had to get that out of my system.Ok, to be fair, it's not anywhere near out of my system. Frankly, that's about wha the inside of my brain sounds like at the moment; particularly as tonight I get to go out in my second (and most last minute) costume of the season. More on that tomorrow, assuming both I and one of the oldest dances in the Western tradition survive the evening intact. In the meantime, boo! Er..I mean links:

Just Because You Aren't Saving the Princess Doesn't Mean You Can Shoot Her: Cap N Zappy. (Personally, I feel if the Princesses didn't want to get shot, they shouldn't have gotten themselves captured, tied up and shot through trap doors. Geez.)

Zombie Songs Contest: Pieces of Flair is running a zombie song contest. My two current favorites are Deadly Friend and Zombie Blues. (Ah ha - I thought the Victor Lams (of Deadly Friend)'s name sounded familiar. I've dug on his tuneage before.) - [N]

Some Interestingly Eviscerated Gourds: Dalek (thanks, Cheryl), Cylon, Big Mac & Pirate.
"...frightening, damaging and disturbing?" Awesome.: Calling All Fiends. Haven't listened to it yet, but it sounds like it should be right up my alley.

Not Related to Halloween or Anything Really. I Just Dig the Song: Also, it's helping me get Wedding Bell Blues out of my head. Everytime I hear that blasted song, I find myself singing it for weeks. Also, it makes me think of the wedding episode of Designing Women - and no one should be plagued with random memories of Designing Women.) The DistanceAlso Hal

A Halloween Memory, Retold

Okay, I'll go first. Here is an original Sarcasmom. I originally posted it on my blog on December 13, 2006. It is one of my favorite Sarcasmo memories. And it involves Halloween. I hope you enjoy it.

The Pirate Story

I have been telling and re-telling this story the last few days. I don't know why this one exactly. I would like to think I could tell it at the service we will be having for Star tomorrow, but I doubt it. So I thought I would tell it here.Star's favorite holiday was Halloween. She took a vacation from work that week every year, just to celebrate it. She participated in so many ways, that there were always a few events she just couldn't fit in. And trust me, she crammed in a lot.Star, myself, her Dad and Sarcas-sis had signed up for a Scavenger Hunt that took place in historic Olde city Philadelphia on the Saturday before Halloween. Star had spent her morning as a volunteer on the tall ship, The Gazella, that docks on the Philly waterfront. Every Halloween they have a haunted ship tour. After the Scavenger Hunt she and Sarcas-sis were to attend a costume party that had become a much anticipated and annual event for Star. So, Star reasoned, it was a matter of convenience that she show up to the Hunt in her pirate costume and then just wear it to the party as well. Yeah right. Her friends are chuckling right now. ANY excuse to wear a costume, and ANY excuse to swashbuckle were right up her alley. She arrived at the public meeting place in full pirate regalia and wearing a cape , that she swirled and swooshed with great aplomb. It being Center City Philadelphia on a saturday night, before Halloween, and gathered with a group of fellow scavengers, she didn't attract as much attention as you might think, although someone did refer to her as the "Woman in the Cape". There were some tourists doing the hunt and I wondered what they were thinking.Star was so totally in her element, telling us about her stint on the ship where she played her role as tortured soul to an audience of children and parents while another "pirate" kept her sustained with chocolate in between screams. Pirates and chocolate. What bliss! And "Guess What" she said. Someone had called her because they needed a zombie on short notice and they wanted to know if she was available. Was she? "Sadly no" she said as she would sometimes do with her head slightly tilted to the left. "But they needed a zombie and they thought of me! This is the best day of my life!"It was a good day indeed.

Halloween Hijinks Redux

It's that time of year again. When Sarcasmo's fancy turned to thoughts of vampires, zombies and haunted pirate ships. Yes, it's almost Halloween.

You may be aware ( and by may be I mean if you ever read even one post on this blog ) that Halloween was Sarcamo's favorite holiday. So much so that she planned her vacation time around it, to ensure that she had time for all the activities she wanted to participate in.

So in the spirit of the holiday I am going to post for you , in no particular order, Original Sarcasmos where she posted about Halloween.

Here is the first one. Note the date of the post. September 6, and she was already panicked about her choice of costume. Enjoy.

Now here comes the commercial: As always, Sarcasmo's Corner is hoping you will participate in this blog by sending links Sarcasmo would have posted, stories, commentary, or whatever you feel appropriate to slf1954@verizon.net . Monday Morning Madness

Another Monday morning has arrived. The major difference between this one and the last one is that no one should utter the words " so what about those Phillies" to me even once. For those of you who were root -root -rooting for the home team, you have my condolences. But look on the bright side. More time for links.

Wild- a mash-up of Sendak & Cthulhu. (via Cheryl)

SHE WASN'T REALLY A ZOMBIE- she just played one in a movie. In Pittsburgh they will be trying to break the record for the most people in a zombiecrawl. (via Tyler)

9.86 SECONDS - that's the record.

MONKEYS ARE GOOD-dancing monkeys even better.(via Popgadget)

DOES THIS SAY WELCOME- or enter at your own risk? (via ShinyShiny)

YEP- that about sums it up.(via Phillyist)

BONUS- an Original Sarcasmo. I came across this when I was looking for zombie references on Sarcasmo's Corner. It not only mentions zombies, but monkeys , pirates , and world domination. All in all, an all encompassing Sarcasmo extravaganza. Enjoy !

Thanks to all who sent me links. it is always good to hear from you.

Halloween is fast approaching. if you spent any time at all here, you know it is Sarcasmo's favorite holiday. If you have any Sarcasmo Halloween stories to share, give 'em up.
